The Bagua (Eight Trigrams) are one of the oldest symbols of Eastern philosophy, first described in the ancient text I Ching (“The Book of Changes”). Each trigram is made of three lines — either broken (yin, receptive) or unbroken (yang, active). Together, these eight patterns symbolize the fundamental forces of nature: Heaven, Earth, Thunder, Wind, Water, Fire, Mountain, and Lake.
